Miraval has a deep commitment to sustainability which is reflected in a variety of ways throughout the resort. Miraval’s delicious, flavorful cuisine uses organic, sustainable and locally harvested ingredients. The Spa at Miraval uses environmentally conscious skincare lines, choosing organic products whenever possible, and uses compostable plastic cups for drinking water. The spa retail store also promotes green packaging and products, selling items such as hemp bags and a variety of other “eco” options.
The resort’s landscaping uses locally appropriate materials that are native to the Sonoran Desert; the landscape and drainage are also designed to slow down runoff, and allow water to percolate and re-charge the site. Additionally, Miraval’s sustainably-designed Catalina Suites and Villas utilize eco-sensitive materials such as rammed earth and locally harvested adobe block walls, low VOC paints, carpets, and adhesives and a high albedo roof coating which deflects solar energy.
