It’s officially summer! What better way to enjoy the warm summer days than a refreshing glass of lemonade? But don’t choose those chemical laden, store bought kind. Make your own!
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
6 cups cold water
First, juice the lemons. Roll the lemons on the counter top with your palms, then microwave them for about 5 seconds to soften them. Roll again and then they’re ready to juice! Be careful when slicing the lemons in half, as they’re very juicy at this point!
Use a strainer to get all of the seeds out of our lemon juice after squeezing.
Next, you want to make the simple syrup.
Combine the 1 1/2 cups sugar with 2 cups water in a saucepan and heat until dissolved completely.
Pour 6 cups water into a pitcher, then add the sugar water and juice. You can add a little more lemon juice, water, or sugar depending on your tastes but this was perfect for us.
Slice a few lemons and add to the pitcher.
Serve cold, over ice.
