Water Wednesday Tip: Why Use Low Flow Fixtures?

Humans consume an excessive amount of water, and we are using it at a much faster rate than it can be replenished.

Did you know that only 1% of the earth’s water is available for human consumption? Though over 70% of the earth’s surface is water, 97% of that is salt water. By using low-flow fixtures on your faucet, shower head, washing machine and toilet, one household can save 40,000 gallons of water per year.

For example, if your toilet is flushed 15 times a day, you can save 24,000 gallons of water each year with a water-saving toilet. If every household in the United States used low-flow fixtures, we could save 2 trillion gallons of water per year and 5.4 billion gallons of water per day!”
