Cheers! Surprising Uses for Vodka
Have you ever thought that that bottle of vodka might have more than one use? Vodka is not just to mix with tonic, juice or seltzer. It is one of the most versatile spirits in existence. Vodka has a long history of use as medicine. More interestingly, it is also versatile to use for a variety of purposes that is not only effective, but also less toxic than a lot of the products you currently use.
Check out some uses for vodka and consider purchasing bottom shelf vodka for some of the uses mentioned below:
Repel those pesky insects
Pour a little of the saucy spirit in a spray bottle and squirt on the little buggers, or yourself as a repellent. Recent media reports have questioned the safety of DEET-based repellents, so try this next time you venture outdoors. But remember, don’t spray the bees!
Remove a bandage
Not brave enough to just rip off that bandage? Dab the bandage with vodka for easy, painless removal. Plus it won’t leave any of that sticky residue on your skin! (Make sure the wound is completely healed first).
Make it Shine
Moisten a soft cloth with vodka to use for cleaning porcelain, chrome, and glass.
Ah Fresh
Don’t have time to wash that shirt? Fill a spray bottle with cheap vodka and spritz on the garment. The alcohol kills odor-causing bacteria and dries quickly. Voila!
Spotless glasses cleaner
Wipe glasses with a clean cloth or newsprint dampened with a small amount of vodka. The alcohol cleans the glass and kills germs.
Keep Flowers Fresher Longer
Pour a few drops of vodka and a teaspoon of sugar to the water in a flower vase to keep the flowers fresher for a longer period of time. Change out the mixture daily to keep the flowers lasting even longer.
Razor care
Keep your razor from rusting as quickly by setting the blade in a cup of vodka after shaving. The alcohol also kills bacteria on the blade.
Shinier Hair
Vodka can help make your hair healthier and shinier by adding a shot and a half of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo.
Remove foot odor
Soak your tootsies in vodka for a few minutes to eliminate bacteria that cause odors.
Ease aches and pains
Yes drinking it can also help with this one, but we are talking about making a soothing lavender tincture with vodka. Fill a jar with fresh lavender flowers and vodka. Close the lid on the jar and leave the jar in the sun for 3 days (just like sun tea). Strain the liquid from the jar through a coffee filter and you’ll have a homemade tincture. You can use it to rub into aches and pains, or bottle it to give as gifts.
Bye Bye mold
Got mold? To help clean it up, fill a spray bottle with vodka. Spray vodka on the mold and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Scrub the mold away with an old toothbrush.
Cheers to Vodka!
